NATIONAL RESOURCES

National Association of Workforce Boards (NAWB)
The National Association of Workforce Boards represents the interests of the nation’s Workforce Investment Boards (WIBs). There are over 600 state and local WIBs across the country. Every state has a local WIB, and each state is divided into local workforce investment areas. Each of these areas has a local investment board.

U.S. Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration

National Association of Workforce Development Professionals
The mission of the National Association of Workforce Development Professionals is to be the national voice for the profession and meet the individual professional development needs of their membership.

National Workforce Association

REGIONAL RESOURCES

Local Workforce Investment Boards (WIBs)
Workforce Investment Boards (WIBs) are business-led and have the governance and oversight of the federal resources that support the One-Stop Career Centers (which differ from state to state) and federal training investments. Federal funding goes to states, and a formula amount is passed on to the local WIBs. If the local WIBs have training money available that can be accessed by employers, the funds can be used for on-the-job training for new hires. To find your state WIB, local WIB, sub area WIB and state workforce association, visit http://www.nawb.org/WorkforceBoardWebSites/tabid/167/Default.aspx.

Incumbent Worker Training
States with an “incumbent worker training program” can provide grant funding for customized training for existing for-profit businesses. Contact your local State Governor to see if there are any funds available for training the current workforce.

One-Stop Career Centers
Employers and jobseekers can find the services they need at a convenient One-Stop Career Center. Or find other service provider locations relevant to employment, training, and economic development. To locate a One-Stop Career Center in your area, visit www.servicelocator.org.
